A community of stakeholders to advance concrete initiatives
for making Artificial Intelligence beneficial to our environmental goals
The Coalition for Sustainable AI is an initiative initiated by France, in collaboration with the UN Environment Programme and the International Telecommunication Union, with the support of several international organizations. Launched at the Paris AI Action Summit, it aims at building a global community of stakeholders willing to contribute to initiatives for aligning AI development with global sustainability goals and fostering responsible AI that supports the environmental policies.
Companies, associations, research institutes can become “members of the Coalition”. Governments and international organizations can also show their support to the Coalition and become “Coalition supporters”. Both members and supporters endorse the shared vision of the Coalition.
Being part of the Coalition allows you to be part of a network of committed stakeholders working towards the development of Artificial Intelligence compatible with and beneficial to our environmental goals. It ensures you get all the information about current and new initiatives in the field. It also offers you the possibility to give visibility to your initiatives that are making substantial steps towards a more Sustainable AI.
This Coalition is not binding, but rather a community of stakeholders eager to ensure the success of our global efforts towards more sustainable AI.
The Coalition for Sustainable AI is a focal point to bring visibility to current and upcoming initiatives (as long as they are collaborative, open and internationally-oriented). It guarantees the non-conflicting and coherent development of those initiatives (frameworks, standards, methodologies, inventories, etc) for the advancement of science, standards and solutions for making AI compatible and beneficial for our environmental goals.
It also foresees the presence of partners at key international events to foster cooperation among the Coalition members and supporters (COP, AI summits, etc.).

We, the members and supporters of the Coalition for Sustainable AI, affirm our collective commitment to leverage the development and use of artificial intelligence (AI) to progress towards the UN Agenda 2030 and the Sustainable Development Goals (UN SDGs), focusing in this Coalition on those related to climate action and protection of our environment.
